Ireland Coach Says Team Will Emerge Stronger From Israel Match Controversy

Ireland’s coach has said the national team will come through the controversy surrounding its matches against Israel stronger, after two UEFA Nations League encounters brought its position on the Palestinian issue into focus.

Across the two games, the Irish side gave several indications that it was in tune with the broader public sentiment in Ireland toward the Palestinian cause.

That alignment gave the fixtures significance beyond the competition itself, placing the team’s response to the issue alongside its performances on the pitch.

The coach’s message focused on emerging stronger from the difficult episode, as Ireland’s meetings with Israel highlighted the intersection of international sport and public feeling over Palestine.
