Irrigation Minister Reports Environmental Recovery and Improved Farmland in Siwa Oasis

Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sweilam has reported progress in restoring the environmental balance of Siwa Oasis, alongside improvements in the condition of its agricultural land.

Sweilam received a report from Ahmed Sadeq, head of the Groundwater Sector, reviewing the status of a project to develop the oasis’s irrigation and drainage system.

The update addressed water management in Siwa, where the project brings irrigation and drainage improvements under a single development effort.

The minister’s assessment highlighted both the oasis’s ecological recovery and the improving state of farmland. The brief account did not provide a timetable for completing the project or figures measuring the changes.
