Explosions Heard in Riyadh as Saudi Arabia Downs Missile and Drone

Two explosions were heard in Riyadh in the early hours of Saturday, following a Saudi Civil Defense warning of a “hostile aerial attack” on the capital.

The warning preceded the sounds of the blasts. Their cause was not immediately clear from the available information.

Saudi Arabia also reported shooting down a missile and a drone. It was not clear whether the explosions heard in Riyadh were linked to those interceptions.

No details were provided on casualties or damage, or on where the missile and drone had been launched.
