Egypt’s Irrigation Minister Discusses Preparations to Host Desertification COP18

Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hani Sweilam, met with Yasmine Fouad, executive secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, to discuss preparations for Egypt to host COP18.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the ninth Cairo Water Week, bringing the hosting preparations into discussions held during the water-focused event.

COP18 is the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification. The talks concerned that convention’s conference, rather than the separate UN climate summit.
