Nick Maddinson Returns to Australia Test Squad After Cancer Battle

Australian cricketer Nick Maddinson has returned to his country’s Test squad, a year after gruelling chemotherapy left him struggling to find the energy to play with his young son.

His recall brings him closer to a return to international cricket after an absence stretching back to 2016. Selection in the squad does not yet guarantee a place in the playing side.

The contrast with his circumstances a year ago is stark. At that point, the demands of cancer treatment were affecting even the time he could spend playing with his child.
