Iraq’s Sadr Dissolves Promised Day Brigade, Urges State Control of Arms

Iraqi Sadrist movement leader Muqtada al-Sadr announced on Wednesday the immediate dissolution of the Promised Day Brigade, alongside a call to place weapons exclusively under state control.

Sadr also announced the conversion of the Army of the Imam into an institution named Supporters of Imam al-Mahdi.
