Seats From the Rubble: Gaza Man Seeks to Support His Family and Help Students

Among the ruins of homes in the Rimal area of Gaza City, Mohammed Amer searches for iron rods that can be used again.

His search is part of an effort to turn salvaged material into seats, linking the need to earn a living for his family with a desire to help students.

For Amer, the task begins with finding usable metal amid the debris. The rods he seeks are material for something new, rather than simply remnants of destroyed buildings.

His undertaking brings together two practical goals: supporting his household and providing seating for students, using what can be recovered from the rubble.
