Lebanon’s Nawaf Salam Looks to US to Make Trilateral Framework Work

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has renewed his reliance on American leadership to ensure the success of a trilateral framework involving Lebanon, Israel and the United States.

Salam said Lebanon had made its choice, stressing his expectations of Washington’s role in advancing the framework.

The arrangement is intended to coordinate de-escalation between Lebanon and Israel, with the United States participating as the third party.

His remarks placed the emphasis on US leadership in helping the three-party framework achieve its stated purpose of supporting calm.
