Five Deacons Ordained at Historic Samanoud Church for Feast of the Cross

Bishop Ignatius, general bishop of the Diocese of Mahalla al-Kubra and its surrounding areas, presided over the Divine Liturgy marking the Feast of the Discovery of the Holy Cross in Samanoud.

The service took place at the historic Church of the Virgin Mary and the Martyr Abanoub al-Nahisi.

Five deacons were ordained during the celebration, which also included the consecration of new liturgical vessels for use in church services.

The feast commemorates the discovery of the wood of the Holy Cross. The ordinations and consecration formed part of the church’s observance of the occasion.
