Israel’s ‘Change Bloc’ United Parties Against Netanyahu

Israel’s “Change Bloc” was an informal political grouping that brought together parties from the right, centre and left with a shared aim: ending the rule of Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu.

The grouping rose to prominence during the political crisis Israel experienced between 2019 and 2022. Opposition to Netanyahu became a point of convergence for parties across the ideological spectrum.

Rather than representing a single political current, the bloc drew its identity from that common objective. Its broad composition distinguished it from an alliance built around one ideology.

The label therefore described a political alignment, not a formal party. It reflected how the question of Netanyahu’s continued leadership could unite otherwise divergent forces during a period of political uncertainty.
