Macron Promises Measures for Students After Weeks of Protests

French President Emmanuel Macron said Monday that the government would announce “concrete measures” to address school students’ demands for more resources and better learning conditions.

The pledge followed weeks of classroom boycotts, closures and demonstrations across France, with protests escalating into unrest.

Students have been pressing for improvements to the conditions in which they study, alongside additional resources for education.

Macron’s announcement signaled a government response to those demands. He did not specify what the measures would involve or when they would be unveiled.
