Eritrean Forces Deploy Near Adigrat as Tensions With Ethiopia Rise

Eritrean forces have deployed in recent days around Adigrat in northern Ethiopia’s Tigray region, according to consistent accounts from sources on Wednesday.

The city lies near Eritrea, placing the reported deployment close to the border between the two countries.

Ethiopian forces also appear to be moving toward the area, the sources said. Their destination and the purpose of the movement remain unclear.

The reports come amid increasingly tense exchanges between Ethiopia and Eritrea. The available accounts did not establish whether the troop movements had led to any direct confrontation.
