Turkey Wants COP31 Remembered as ‘Conference of Implementation,’ Envoy Says

Turkey wants the world to remember COP31 as a “conference of implementation,” its ambassador to Egypt, Salih Mutlu Şen, said.

The ambassador said his country is preparing to host the United Nations climate conference in Antalya this coming November.

COP31 is the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, bringing climate negotiations to the Turkish host city.

Şen’s emphasis on implementation frames Turkey’s ambition for the gathering around putting climate commitments into practice, rather than negotiations alone.
