Saudi Arabia Says Defence Minister’s Tehran Visit Aims to Ease Tensions

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry said Monday that Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz’s visit to Tehran is aimed at reducing tensions surrounding the current crisis.

The ministry described de-escalation between the parties involved as a central purpose of the visit to the Iranian capital.

It said the trip also seeks to encourage dialogue, placing talks at the heart of the diplomatic effort.

The ministry’s statement framed the visit as a push for diplomatic solutions, without specifying in the brief announcement which parties or issues would be addressed.
