Egypt’s Irrigation Chief Says Water Problems Cannot Wait Until the Next Day

Managing Egypt’s irrigation network requires prompt action when problems arise, according to Engineer Ashraf Darwish, head of the Irrigation Sector at the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.

Darwish said the nature of water management does not allow emerging issues to be left until the following day.

He stressed that continuous monitoring of water levels and flow rates is a fundamental part of managing the irrigation network.

His remarks highlighted the link between day-to-day monitoring and timely intervention, placing close oversight at the heart of irrigation operations.
