Yemen’s Al-Alimi Announces Military Operations to Restore Control Nationwide

Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, announced on Sunday the start of military operations aimed at restoring control over all parts of the country.

Al-Alimi said the move marked a shift from preparations to what he described as a phase of liberation.

He said the decision followed the exhaustion of all opportunities for de-escalation, presenting the operations as the next step after efforts to ease tensions had run their course.

The announcement set out a nationwide objective, but provided no details on the locations, forces involved or timetable for the operations.
