Netanyahu Says He Ordered Mossad and Military to Work to Topple Iran’s Government

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had instructed the Mossad intelligence agency and the Israeli military to work toward bringing down Iran’s government.

His statement described an explicit goal of removing the Iranian leadership, with both intelligence and military institutions directed to pursue it.

Netanyahu also warned that Tehran could resort to further escalation. He did not specify in the remarks provided what form that escalation might take.

The statement gave no details about how the instructions would be carried out or a timetable for action. It also did not establish whether any operations had begun in response to the directive.
