Iran Awaits US Response to ‘Seven-Day’ Proposal Despite Trump’s Rejection

Iran is still awaiting a US response through mediators to its proposal for a ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.

His remarks came despite President Donald Trump’s public announcement that he had rejected the plan, referred to as the “seven-day” proposal.

Araghchi said Tehran was waiting for the American position to be conveyed by the intermediaries. His comments indicated that Iran still considered that diplomatic response pending.

The proposal covers both a halt to fighting and the reopening of the strait. Araghchi’s remarks did not specify when a response was expected or provide further details of the proposed arrangements.
