‘Our Hearts Are Divided’: India’s Brazil Fans Face Loyalty Test

A friendly between India and Brazil is presenting Indian football supporters with a difficult choice: back their own national team or cheer for the Brazilian side they have long admired.

The prospect of facing one of the biggest teams in football history has brought those competing loyalties into focus, leaving fans divided over whom to support.

For Indian followers of Brazil, the fixture turns a familiar sporting passion into a personal dilemma. Supporting the Brazilian team now means backing the opposition against their own country.

Other supporters are rallying behind India, putting national allegiance first in a match against one of the sport’s most celebrated sides.

The encounter may be a friendly, but the choice in the stands carries an emotional weight of its own: pride in India on one side, affection for Brazil on the other.
