Zamalek, Esperance and RS Berkane Reach CAF Champions League Group Stage as Al Merrikh Exit

Zamalek, Esperance and RS Berkane have secured places in the CAF Champions League group stage after coming through the qualifying round.

The three clubs advanced from a fiercely contested stage of the African club competition, keeping their campaigns alive ahead of the group phase.

Al Merrikh, meanwhile, were eliminated, missing out on a place in the next round as their Champions League run came to an end.

Despite the intense competition for qualification, the round’s results were broadly in line with expectations. Attention now turns to the group stage for the teams that progressed.
