Ballon d’Or Website Sparks Confusion With Three Different Winners Named

The Ballon d’Or’s official website sparked controversy hours before the 2026 ceremony in London after publishing three articles indicating that different players had won the award.

Each article pointed to a different winner of the prize for the world’s best player, leaving conflicting accounts on the award’s own platform ahead of the event.

The timing drew attention to the publications, with the ceremony in the British capital only hours away. The contradictory articles did not establish which player would receive the honour.

The reason for the conflicting posts was not clear from the available information. The award’s outcome remained unconfirmed as attention turned to the ceremony.
