Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Threaten Tanker in Strait of Hormuz

A tanker crossing the Strait of Hormuz received a warning from Iran’s Revolutionary Guards to turn back or face being targeted, the UK Maritime Trade Operations said Monday.

The warning demanded that the vessel reverse course, threatening an attack if it continued its passage through the strait.

The account did not identify the tanker or specify when the warning was issued. It also did not say whether the vessel complied with the demand.

No strike or damage to the tanker was reported in the information provided. The vessel’s subsequent movements and the outcome of the encounter remained unclear.
