Real Madrid announced on Sunday that Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois would miss their La Liga clash with Barcelona because of flu symptoms.
The announcement came just hours before kick-off, ruling Courtois out of one of the biggest fixtures in the Spanish league.
His absence leaves Madrid having to turn to another goalkeeper for the Clasico, with little time remaining before the match.
The club’s announcement attributed his withdrawal to illness but gave no indication of when he would be available again.
