Sisi: Ethiopia’s Dam Will Not Come at the Expense of Egypt’s Existence

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said Tuesday that the Ethiopian dam issue would not be allowed to come at the expense of Egypt’s existence or its people.

Sisi stressed that diplomacy and peaceful solutions remained the priority in addressing the dispute over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.

His remarks paired that commitment to a peaceful approach with an insistence on protecting Egypt and its population.

Alongside its diplomatic efforts, Cairo is working to increase its water resources, pursuing domestic measures in parallel with efforts to resolve the dam issue.
