Katz Says Displaced Palestinians Cannot Return to Hebron Until Hamas Issues Resolved

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel would not allow Palestinians displaced from their homes in Hebron to return to their neighborhoods until it resolves what he described as problems with Hamas there.

Katz said around 2,000 Palestinians had been displaced from their homes in the city.

He said the ban on their return would remain in place “until we resolve all the problems with Hamas in Hebron.”

The remarks made the displaced residents’ return conditional on Israel’s handling of Hamas in the city, rather than setting a date for them to go home.
