Yemen’s Al-Alimi Announces Military Operations to Reclaim Entire Country

Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council chairman, Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, announced on Sunday the start of military operations aimed at restoring control over the entire country.

Al-Alimi said the operations marked a shift from a period of preparation and readiness to what he described as a liberation phase.

He said the decision followed the exhaustion of all opportunities for de-escalation, presenting the military campaign as the next step after efforts to calm tensions had run their course.

The announcement set out a nationwide objective but provided no details on the locations of the operations, the forces involved or a timetable for achieving that goal.
