Troops and Helicopters in Milan Ahead of Expected Protests

Italian authorities mounted a heavy security presence in Milan on Saturday as the city prepared for anticipated demonstrations.

Soldiers and helicopters were part of the security deployment ahead of the protests, which were expected a week after violence and looting.

The earlier unrest prompted the government to deploy 500 soldiers and introduce tougher security measures.

Saturday’s heightened presence marked the latest stage of that response, with authorities preparing for renewed gatherings in the city.
