Egypt’s Higher Education Minister Says Universities Must Build Awareness Beyond Teaching

Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Abdel Aziz Qansouh, said universities have a responsibility that extends beyond education to helping build students’ awareness.

Qansouh, who is also acting minister of culture, said President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s directives have stressed the importance of strengthening communication within universities.

He highlighted the need for faculty members to be present alongside students, placing direct engagement at the heart of the university’s wider role.

His remarks linked universities’ educational mission with their responsibility to foster awareness, underscoring the importance of contact between students and teaching staff beyond academic instruction.
