El Alamein Business Forum Advances African Economic Cooperation, Says Former Diplomat

Ambassador Youssef El-Sharkawy, a former assistant foreign minister, said President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s opening of the El Alamein Africa Business Forum marked a new phase in Egypt’s relations with Africa.

El-Sharkawy described the opening as a qualitative shift in those ties, highlighting the forum’s role in advancing economic cooperation across the continent.

His assessment placed business engagement at the centre of the forum’s significance for Egyptian-African relations, linking the gathering to closer economic ties.

The former diplomat’s remarks underscored the importance he attached to the president’s participation and to the forum as a platform for cooperation between Egypt and its African partners.
