Egypt Still Faces Challenges to Stability, Political Scientist Says

Political science professor Tarek Fahmy said President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s reference to the continuing challenges facing Egypt reflected his assessment that plans targeting the country’s stability remain active.

Fahmy was commenting on the president’s indication that the challenges confronting the Egyptian state have not ended.

In Fahmy’s view, the remarks point to continuing efforts to undermine stability, rather than difficulties that Egypt has already overcome.

The supplied comments did not identify who might be behind such plans or give details about their nature. Fahmy’s assessment focused on the persistence of the challenges facing the state.
