Could Cairo Book Fair Honor a Living Figure for the First Time in 2027?

Egypt’s cultural circles are awaiting a decision on the personality to be honored at the 58th Cairo International Book Fair in 2027, amid questions over whether a living figure could be chosen for the first time in the event’s history.

Several names are being considered by the fair’s higher committee. The available information does not identify the candidates or indicate when a final decision will be announced.

The prospect of selecting a living personality is the central question surrounding the choice. However, no such selection has been confirmed.

For now, both the identity of the 2027 honoree and whether the choice will mark a departure from previous editions remain unresolved.
