Regional Efforts to Contain US-Iran Crisis Predate War, Political Researcher Says

Regional efforts to contain the crisis between the United States and Iran began before the outbreak of war and remain ongoing, according to political affairs researcher Dr. Wissam al-Qusair.

Al-Qusair said the attempts to ease the crisis were not simply a response to the fighting. Regional efforts had already been under way before the confrontation escalated into war.

He pointed to both sides’ insistence on their demands as an obstacle to containing the crisis, despite the continued attempts to find a way forward.
