Military Expert Calls for New International Framework to Prevent Security Vacuum in Lebanon

Lebanon is approaching a sensitive security phase as the mission of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, known as UNIFIL, nears its end, military and strategic expert Brigadier General Marcel Blokji said.

Blokji called for a new international framework to prevent a security vacuum in the country. His warning focused on the need to address the implications of the force’s departure.

The expert linked his call to the approaching conclusion of UNIFIL’s mission, presenting security arrangements for the period that follows as a key concern.
