Egypt’s Mining Sector Takes Centre Stage With Presidential Backing, Expert Says

Egypt’s mining sector is moving to the forefront of the country’s economic and development agenda with direct support from the political leadership, according to energy engineering professor and petroleum expert Dr Ramadan Abul Ela.

Abul Ela said the sector was receiving presidential backing and direct follow-up for the first time, describing a shift in the attention given to mining.

He contrasted the current focus with long periods in which the sector had suffered from marginalisation and neglect.

His assessment placed leadership attention at the heart of mining’s growing prominence, presenting the sector as an increasingly important part of Egypt’s economic and development priorities.
