Sisi’s Messages Affirm Nile Water Is an Existential Issue, Hassan Salama Says

Political science professor Hassan Salama said President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s messages underscored that Nile water is an existential issue for Egypt.

Salama was commenting on Sisi’s address while chairing a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.

The meeting coincided with celebrations marking the anniversary of the October victory.

Salama’s assessment placed the Nile at the centre of his reading of the president’s remarks, highlighting the importance Egypt attaches to its water security.
