Mohamed El-Gendy Warns Social Media Uses a ‘Hook’ to Capture Young Minds

Cybersecurity expert Dr. Mohamed El-Gendy has warned of serious consequences from the policies and algorithms used by modern social media platforms, highlighting their impact on young people.

El-Gendy described the platforms as using a “hook” to capture young minds, framing their influence as a threat that extends beyond the content users see.

His warning focused on the systems governing social media, placing platform policies and algorithms at the centre of concerns about their effects on users.

The remarks draw attention to the relationship between young people and digital platforms, and to the need for scrutiny of the mechanisms shaping their online experiences.
