Samah Abu Bakr Ezzat: Awareness Matters More Than Banning Children’s Phone Use

Children’s author Samah Abu Bakr Ezzat has stressed the importance of helping families manage children’s mobile phone use, placing awareness ahead of outright bans.

Ezzat, a specialist in children’s literature and one of the speakers at Egypt Forum 2026, highlighted the need to strengthen families’ understanding of how to regulate that use.

Her remarks focused on the family’s role in setting boundaries around children’s access to phones, rather than simply preventing them from using the devices.

The emphasis, she said, should be on greater awareness of how phone use can be organised, making informed family guidance the priority.
