Ahmed Haggag: Alamein Forum strengthens African economic integration

Egypt’s hosting of the inaugural Alamein Forum carries important political, security and economic messages, according to Ambassador Ahmed Haggag, a former assistant secretary-general of the Organisation of African Unity.

Haggag highlighted the forum’s role in strengthening African economic integration, placing cooperation across the continent at the centre of his assessment.

His remarks linked the event’s economic significance with its wider political and security dimensions, rather than presenting it solely as a platform for economic discussion.

The former official’s assessment underscored the importance of Egypt hosting the forum’s first edition and the messages that convening it sends across those three areas.
