Guterres’ Egypt Visit Reflects Trust in Its Regional Role, International Relations Professor Says

UN Secretary-General António Guterres’ ninth visit to Egypt reflects confidence in the country’s regional role, according to Dr Ahmed Sayed Ahmed, a professor of international relations.

Ahmed highlighted Guterres’ keenness to visit Egypt, presenting his repeated trips as a sign of the importance the UN chief attaches to the country.

The professor also pointed to Guterres’ description of Egypt as a capital of political stability in the region. He linked that assessment to the country’s standing as a source of regional stability.

Ahmed’s comments framed the visit as an expression of trust in Egypt’s role, with both the frequency of Guterres’ visits and his assessment of the country central to that view.
