Amr Farouk: Egypt Still Faces Challenges as Tools Used to Target State Change

Amr Farouk, a researcher on terrorist groups, said President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s repeated warnings about the challenges facing Egypt reflect information available to the president.

Farouk said those challenges remain ongoing, while the tools used to target the Egyptian state have changed.

His comments drew a distinction between the persistence of threats and the changing methods behind them. He did not identify specific tools or groups in the remarks provided.

Farouk linked the president’s continued emphasis on these challenges to an informed assessment, without detailing the information on which it was based.
