Diverging US and Iranian Priorities Hinder Revival of Talks, Expert Says

Differences in priorities between the United States and Iran remain an obstacle to reviving negotiations, according to former diplomat and international relations expert Dr. Hisham Hamdan.

Hamdan said the two countries’ differing approaches to the negotiating process continue to hamper the prospects of reaching understandings.

His assessment places the gap between Washington and Tehran’s priorities at the centre of the difficulty facing efforts to move talks forward.

The remarks point to the challenge of finding common ground on the direction of negotiations. Hamdan did not identify specific points of disagreement or outline a timetable for renewed talks in the summary provided.
