‘Your Book Kiosk’ Brings Books Closer to Decent Life Villages

The “Your Book Kiosk” initiative is bringing books to villages covered by Egypt’s Decent Life programme, expanding access beyond the urban venues where book sales were previously concentrated.

Before the initiative’s launch, readers were more dependent on outlets in cities, institutions and cultural centres. That concentration made access to books more difficult for people living outside those locations.

By taking book sales into villages, the kiosks offer a more local route to reading material. The shift puts access within rural communities rather than leaving it centred on established cultural venues.

The initiative highlights a change in where books are available: from a network focused largely on cities and institutions towards one that also reaches villages included in Decent Life.
