Francis Bacon’s ‘Figure in Movement’ Heads to London Auction at £18 Million

Christie’s has announced that Francis Bacon’s painting “Figure in Movement” will be offered for sale at auction in London next October.

The work is being presented with a value of £18 million, ahead of a sale that will determine its final price.

Bacon, the celebrated Irish-born British artist, lived from 1909 to 1992. The announcement describes the painting as one of his masterpieces.

“Figure in Movement,” rendered in Arabic as “Body in Motion,” is the work named for the forthcoming London sale.
