Automated summary•7 October 2026 at 14:51
Upper Egypt has experienced a significant surge in development over the past ten years, according to Dr. Karim El-Omda, a professor of political economy.
El-Omda highlighted infrastructure improvements as part of the changes the region has undergone during that period.
His assessment focused on the longer-term development of Upper Egypt, the country’s southern region, rather than changes in a single year.
The remarks presented infrastructure development as a key component of the broader progress he described across the region.
