Al-Azhar Scholar Hani Tammam Warns Against Sharing Unverified Claims

Dr. Hani Tammam, an assistant professor of Islamic jurisprudence at Al-Azhar University, has warned of the dangers of passing on information without checking its accuracy or understanding its meaning.

Tammam said some people circulate information quickly, without sufficient awareness or reflection. His warning focused on the care needed before relaying what others have said.

The remarks addressed both verification and understanding, highlighting that sharing a claim responsibly requires more than simply hearing it and repeating it.

His comments came in the context of a question about the religious ruling on passing along unchecked information, drawing attention to the risks of spreading rumors.
