Charity to Non-Muslims Is Permissible in Islam, Says Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta Official

Sheikh Ahmed Wissam, a fatwa secretary at Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta, has affirmed that giving charity to non-Muslims is permissible under Islamic law.

Wissam was responding to a question about whether a Muslim may make a charitable donation to someone of another faith.

He highlighted the humanitarian value of charity and its contribution to development within society, linking the ruling to the wider benefits of helping others.

His response also stressed that charity reinforces mercy and mutual compassion, with charitable support extending beyond religious differences.
