Fisherman Arrested After Confronting Nile Cleanup Workers in Giza

Egypt’s Interior Ministry said it had arrested a fisherman who obstructed workers clearing aquatic weeds from the Nile in Giza and verbally abused them.

The ministry’s statement followed the circulation of a video on social media showing a man preventing the cleanup crew from carrying out its work.

The workers were carrying out the river cleanup on behalf of state agencies. According to the ministry, the confrontation involved verbal abuse as well as interference with their duties.
